Apply to the Tisch Scholars Program

Thank you for your interest in the Tisch Scholars Program! Current first-years and sophomores who will be on campus during all of the 2019-2020 academic year are eligible to apply, though the Scholars program is designed to have the strongest impact on students who participate for the full three years. Beginning in the Fall term, first-year Scholars take a yearlong Fieldwork Seminar while engaging in a community service or research project with a local partner organization. As they advance through the program in subsequent years, continuing Scholars strengthen their leadership skills and build capacity in local communities and on campus by taking on projects of greater complexity and responsibility. Third-year Scholars will develop a culminating capstone project.

Interested students should also note that accepted Scholars must be available to attend an on-campus orientation retreat May 11-14, 2019. Campus housing will be extended and all meals provided.

Application Process

To apply, students must:

  • Fill out an online application, which asks for biographical information and four short essay questions.
  • Send a recent resume to
  • Have a recommender fill out the recommendation form. Your recommender can be anyone (except a family member or fellow student) who can speak to your strengths in a classroom setting and/or in a community based setting. This includes a Tufts faculty or staff member, a high school teacher, or a supervisor from a past job/internship/volunteer opportunity.

Please note that your application will not be considered submitted until all three steps above are completed. Tisch College staff and current Tisch Scholars will review applications and schedule interviews with selected candidates. Final decisions will be made by mid-March.
