Tufts Presidential Town Hall with Bill Weld
Wednesday, October 16 | 12 PM | Crane Room, Paige Hall
Join Tisch College for a conversation with current candidate for the 2020 Republican nomination for President, Bill Weld. Weld served as the Governor of Massachusetts for two terms. He was the first Republican to be elected Massachusetts Governor in 20 years, and began a run of four Republican governors in a row. Prior to being elected governor, Weld served President Ronald Reagan’s Justice Department, first as the U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts and then as Assistant U.S. Attorney in charge of the Criminal Division. Early in his career, he was a staff member on the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, where he assisted with the Watergate impeachment inquiry, and worked for Senator Jacob Javits. In 2016, Bill Weld and Gary Johnson, representing the Libertarian Party, ran for the third-party ticket in the 2016 Presidential election. Follow the conversation at #BillWeldAtTufts.
As part of the 2020 election season, Tisch College will invite and host presidential candidates from both sides of the aisle for informal conversations with the Tufts community. These discussions are intended to promote civic dialogue on important issues and inform students, faculty and staff about candidates’ platforms prior to the election. Tisch College is a nonpartisan institution and does not endorse any candidate.
