Civic Life Lunch – #ThanksObama: A Conversation with POTUS’ Comedian-in-Chief
Tuesday, September 18 | 12 PM | Rabb Room, Tisch College
How do you write jokes for the President of the United States? How do you make one of the most powerful men in the world seem appropriately snarky and self-effacing, but not mean or malicious? As a senior speechwriter for President Barack Obama and lead joke writer for four White House Correspondents’ Association Dinners, David Litt grappled with these questions firsthand—and delivered the goods. Litt wrote about his experiences in the White House in his (very funny) memoir, Thanks Obama: My Hopey Changey White House Years. He is now head writer/producer for Funny or Die’s Washington, D.C., office.
Cosponsored by the Department of Political Science and JumboVote. Lunch will be provided.
We expect a capacity, standing-room only crowd for this event! We strongly advise you to arrive early so you can grab a seat and some lunch!
