Under the guidance of the TUSDM’s Department of Public Health and Community Service (DPHCS), Tisch Summer Fellows will interact with community members and community leaders to expand, enhance, and improve their understanding of how life conditions, community circumstance as well as programs and policies impact oral health at the individual and community level.

  • Develop civic engagement skills and deepen social and cultural awareness needed to treat underserved and/or marginalized populations
  • Promote the development of an oral health workforce to work effectively in diverse environments and with greater understanding of the impact of social determinants on health
  • Foster learning outcomes appropriate to the dental educational curriculum
  • Provide opportunities for student personal and professional development
