Rosie's Theater Kids

RTKids is an arts education organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children through the arts.  We also have established an academic wing to our program called Arts + (plus) 

Our program begins with 5th graders in schools that have 80% or higher free lunch rates.

Fellowship Description

The fellow will assist in the arts classroom as well as the administrative offices. They will be expected to organize students enrolled in our summer program in the classrooms, in the hallways and at lunch. They will be asked to handle processing permission slips, student data, and attendance percentages into our database. The fellow will also be asked to help with ongoing projects of the organization, such as development assignments and outreach programs. They will be invited to RTKids events to help with children performances.

Typical Hours

9-5pm, hours flexible 

Work Environment

The fellow will be working at a desk and in the classrooms and off-site for special events. The fellow will be working with artistic staff, administrative staff and the team of summer interns. 

There are also many outside events that the fellow will be invited to participate in/attend.

Specific Skills Required

Appreciation for the arts and a desire to work with children. 

Specific Experience Required

Some theater experience; previous work with children in any setting.

Language Skills Required

Spanish speaking preferred - but not required.

Skills and Experience the Fellow Will Gain

1. An appreciation and understanding of arts education dedicated to serving at-risk youth

2. An understanding of non-profit management

3. An opportunity to attend cultivation events/student performances

Every summer, the fellow is invited to attend cultivation events throughout their time at Rosie's Theater Kids. This includes special performances, meeting and speaking with guests in attendance. They also attend Broadway shows, other theater events and also are hands-on for the students’ final performances at Rosie’s Theater Kids.

Supervisor

Jacqueline Schiffer is the Grants Manager and Intern-Apprentice Program Coordinator at Rosie's Theater Kids.
