Information for Faculty & Staff

Tisch College works closely with faculty members from across the University who incorporate civic engagement into their teaching and scholarship. Faculty members may receive support for developing new courses; conducting research in local communities; examining the civic dimensions of their disciplines; and connecting with peers, students, and community leaders who can help advance your work.

We also strive to connect with staff members from all Tufts schools to promote collaboration on events, student programming, and other initiatives of interest to students and staff throughout the University.

Become a Faculty Fellow

Each year, Tisch College selects 10-15 faculty members from across the University who wish to strengthen the connections between their work and civic life. Faculty Fellows receive a stipend they may apply to course development, research, or salary, and they meet as a cohort to learn from each other’s work and to discuss shared challenges and opportunities.

Interested faculty members should contact Diane Ryan, Associate Dean for Programs & Administration, at

Conduct Community-Based Research

The Tisch College Community Research Center supports community-based participatory research (CBPR), in which Tufts faculty members work closely with local stakeholders to design, conduct, and disseminate scholarship that addressed community-identified needs. Learn more.

Leverage our Partnerships

Tisch College has strong relationships with dozens of local leaders and organizations in our host communities that can help you combine classroom teaching with real-world experience. We may be able to arrange site visits, guest speakers, service placements, and other opportunities for experiential learning.

Promote Your Course or Event

Tisch College regularly sends out announcements about courses, programs, events, and other opportunities that may be of interest to students engaged with social issues and civic life.
