Learn about the Tufts 1+4 Bridge Year

Our unique program allows you to do a year of full-time community service in the United States or abroad in locations like Brazil, Ecuador, India, and Nicaragua. Work an an issue you care about—education & childhood development, arts & culture, environmental sustainability, wildlife preservation, social entrepreneurship—while immersing yourself in a different language and culture. You can apply when you apply to Tufts or after you’re admitted, and financial aid is available!

We provide many opportunities for students to enhance their learning while working directly on issues they care about. You can take part in a leadership program, do a summer fellowship in government or the nonprofit sector, and connect with local communities through service, activism, or advocacy work.
