Information for Prospective Students & Families

Whether you’re still learning about different options for college, or you already know you’ll soon be a Jumbo, we hope you’ll explore some of the ways Tisch College helps make a Tufts education unique and the opportunities that will be available to you as a student—or, in the case of our 1+4 program, before you even set foot on campus!

Learn about our First-Year Global Programs

Two unique programs, Tufts 1+4 and Tufts Civic Semester, allow you to kickstart your college life outside of the United States, combiniing academics with an internship at a community organization. Whether for a full bridge year between high school and college (Tufts 1+4) or as your first term at Tufts (Civic Semester), you can work an an issue you care about—education & childhood development, arts & culture, environmental sustainability, wildlife preservation, social entrepreneurship—while immersing yourself in a different language and culture. You can apply to either program when you apply to Tufts or after you’re admitted, and financial aid is available!

Serve Others During Orientation

FOCUS (First-Year Orientation Community Service) is a five day pre-orientation program for incoming students at Tufts University that aims to engage first-year students through service opportunities with organizations in the greater Boston area. FOCUS partners with local organizations where participants work alongside community members and learn about the community that they will call home for the next four years. First-years are supported by FOCUS staff, dedicated Tufts students who are committed to active and responsible community engagement that support needs identified by the community and its representatives. Throughout the program, incoming students have the opportunity to explore campus and the greater Boston area, meet other first-years and upperclassmen, and build the foundation for a college career of community service and civic engagement.
