About the GLADC

The Generous Listening and Dialogue Center (GLADC) was launched in 2021 in collaboration with the Vuslat Foundation to promote authentic connections through dialogue and generous listening, even across differences. Generous listening is broadly defined as the art of listening to ourselves, to nature, and to others - especially when people disagree or when they confront differences of perspective, experience, power, and/or status. GLADC works with schools and departments across Tufts, building on the expertise of faculty, research centers and civic engagement programs, while also collaborating with national and global partners. Our programming and interdisciplinary initiatives help students, staff and faculty develop skills and awareness, address hard issues, and generate new knowledge.

Overview

The purpose of the GLADC’s Associate Researcher (contract) position is to support the associate in planning, coordinating, and implementing research objectives, following GLADC’s work plan. Through this program, doctoral students and professionals are invited to engage with the GLADC’s mission in promoting authentic dialogue and generous listening across differences, particularly as it relates to listening to oneself, to one another, and to nature. Associates will help design listening and dialogue interventions, assist with data collection, and evaluate the GLADC’s impact in the Tufts community and beyond. Our hope is that this opportunity will help the GLADC generate new knowledge about its impact, as well as contribute to the Associate’s own professional and intellectual development.

Schedule: The Associate Researcher position will operate as an independent contractor and will run approximately for six months, from July 2022 to January 2023, falling within the Summer, Fall, and Winter semesters at Tufts University. This will be a part-time position (20 hours per week) to be hybrid, depending on the evolving situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funding: Associate Researcher will receive a $20,000 stipend.
