We are a country that, in the next 30 years, will be completely multi-racial. There will not be a single ethnic or racial majority.
Themes of belonging, equity, and dialogue across difference are embedded across our research, courses and programs, and our mission supports the University’s commitment to institutional inclusive excellence. Tisch College’s major research centers focus on strengthening the political and civic participation of historically marginalized people, especially youth, and on addressing the challenges of building democratic institutions for all. These commitments are also at the heart of our community-based partnerships and programs. Tisch College has a long-standing Inclusive Excellence Committee, which is represented on every hiring committee, and offers professional development and staff reflection opportunities. Elevating this work, Tisch College appointed Shirley Mark as our inaugural Assistant Dean of Diversity & Inclusion in January 2022, bringing deep institutional knowledge to this leadership role.
We are a country that, in the next 30 years, will be completely multi-racial. There will not be a single ethnic or racial majority.
Our civic responsibility demands that we act, especially in times of trauma and struggle. No institution is exempt from this responsibility, including Tufts University and Tisch College.
