In the United States and around the world, civic life is imperiled. Young people are increasingly distrustful of democracy and disengaged from the institutions that help shape the world around them. Intolerance is on the rise and free speech is threatened. Intractable problems like widening economic inequality and global challenges like climate change threaten the wellbeing of people and nations everywhere.
At Tisch College, we believe that the solution to all of these problems begins in one place: with citizens coming together, working across differences, and engaging with each other and with their local, national, and global communities in order to effect change. We believe - in fact, thanks to our research, we know - that the more people engage in civic and democratic life, the more just, equitable, and prosperous our world becomes.
We have an ambitious and expansive vision to put that kind of civic engagement at the center of teaching and research, not just at Tufts University, but across higher education in the United States and around the globe. But we cannot fulfill that vision without you. We depend on the generosity of alumni, friends, and other donors to propel our work forward and expand our impact.
