What are the long-term effects of excessive sentencing on individuals, families and communities? Join a panel conversation to explore the state of excessive sentencing in the United States as well as in countries like Finland and Norway, and learn about diverse policies in California and Massachusetts that have led to a decline in excessive sentencing. Panelists will include MyTERN graduate and Bunker Hill degree student, Swinks Laporte, Tufts TUPIT BA student and Transformational Prison Project Restorative Justice facilitator, Kentel Weaver, award-winning writer and prison reform activist Kenneth Hartman, and renowned civil rights lawyer Michael Meltsner.

This event is hosted by the Tufts University Prison Initiative of Tisch College (TUPIT) in collaboration with MA activist Bob Marra and Saint Susanna’s Prison Ministry program.
