In partnership with the Medford Family Network, Tufts Athletics provided gifts for six families in need this holiday season. The Athletics Department, Tufts Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and Civic Life Ambassadors partnered with the Medford Family Network again this year to coordinate the 4th Annual Jumbo Giving Tree. Members of the Jumbo community donated gifts that were on the families' wish lists and contributed more than $2,400 worth of gifts and gifts cards.
The Medford Family Network, part of the Medford Public Schools system, is a comprehensive parenting education and family support program serving families since 1994. For over twenty-five years, the MFN has strengthened families by spearheading this holiday gift giving initiative.
Tufts Civic Life Coordinator for Athletics, Frank Roche, reflected on the success of this year's Jumbo Giving Tree, āIām really proud of the way our whole athletic department stepped up on this initiative. All 28 teams went above and beyond what was expected of them. From teams pitching in to purchase an electric scooter to teams writing handwritten holiday notes, it was special to see.ā
