Halloween on the Hill

Halloween on the Hill is an annual tradition that welcomes families from the Medford and Somerville communities to Tufts University for an afternoon of Halloween fun. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 3–5 PM on the Academic Quad.

Hosted by LCS in collaboration with Tufts Athletics, the event will feature festive activities, candy, and a costume parade for kids and families to enjoy. It’s a wonderful opportunity for children, families, and Tufts volunteers to celebrate the season together in a safe and fun environment.

Community Day

Community Day is an annual Tufts tradition that celebrates arts, innovation and community. Every year, members of the Medford and Somerville communities join us on campus, along with students, staff, and faculty for a day of live entertainment, family friendly activities, and food. Community partners (including non-profits and municipal resource organizations) as well as student organizations often table on this day, giving members of the community at large an idea of the diversity of opportunities found in Medford and Somerville.

Halloween on the Hill

Halloween on the Hill is an annual tradition that brings families from the Medford/Somerville community to engage in Halloween activities and fun with volunteers from Tufts University. LCS, in collaboration with Tufts Athletics, hosted this event this past Fall 2024. Kids, families, and volunteers had a great time together with performances, activities, and candy.

JumboVote Event

LCS hosted a JumboVote event this past Fall in collaboration with JumboVote. This event encouraged voting engagement, community building, and civic learning. We presented on learning how to fill out a ballot, the importance of voting, and voting history. We enjoyed food and fun voting related activities as we encouraged voting.

Partnership with Jumbos For Non-Profits

The Somerville Homeless Coalition and Tufts Jumbos for Non-Profits recently hosted a Sleep-out event on Friday, November 17, to raise awareness about hunger and homelessness.  During this event, there was programming to learn about the issue of homelessness in the Somerville community. Then, some members of the event slept on the Residential Quad of Tufts in solidarity with the homelessness community of Somerville.

Day of Service

LCS Day of Service was April 11, 2025! The event is from 9:00 am - 2:30 pm, which includes time for breakfast, travel, and reflection. We will be working at the service sites from 10 am - 1 pm. The service sites include community cleanup, environmental sustainability, and disability advocacy.

We are excited and honored to have Cameron Conner as our guest speaker. He is a Visiting Fellow and Professor of Practice at Tufts University’s Tisch College of Civic Life, and has done important work in international disaster relief and healthcare. He has worked within the United Nations to provide housing for refugees in the northern border of Greece. He is also a co-founder of the Conscious Connections Foundation, which is a nonprofit that focuses on education and disaster relief in Nepal.
