Building Robust & Inclusive Democracy

For LCS Subgroups

LCS Resource Box

This is a great one-stop place for all important subgroup resources. If you still have questions, please check out the resources below or contact us!

Tufts Civic Impact

A portal to all service opportunities in the community. The page is open to all Tufts students, staff, faculty, and community partners to publicize and coordinate service projects, service learning classes, or donation drives. Learn more about Tufts Civic Impact.

  • LCS clubs are required to add and manage “impacts.” Under the Events tab, one can “Add Event” to create new events either shared within the club or with the Tufts Community. The form asks questions regarding the name, description, date, time, number of participants, and other information. It is also possible to create one time or recurring events. At this point, participants can register for the event, documenting their service.

  • On Tufts Civic Impact, “impacts” is an umbrella term to describe all potential forms of community engagement activity. Impacts include funds donated or raised, goods donated, hours trained, and most often, volunteer hours served. Under “Manage Impacts”, you will see all the impacts logged with your group and the various information associated with it. Each impact record is associated with a user who gave an impact type (e.g.,hours served) to a group or event.

Treasury and Reimbursement

  • The General Reimbursement form can be accessed here. To submit the form, it may be sent to treasury.lcs@gmail.com and/or contact our signatories Serena.Meng@tufts.edu or Hannah.Oshinsky@tufts.edu directly.

  • View and fill out the credit card authorization form.

  • The LCS van is open to all subgroups and can be loaned to other community service groups. We are responsible for all gas costs and maintenance. It is required that a driver is van certified which takes about a week in advance. Certify Here. Contact Eileen.chen@tufts.edu to book the van.

  • LCS keeps a flex budget spending allowing subgroups to access more money as needed. In order to access this, contact lcsexecutives@gmail.com and treasury.lcs@gmail.com. Or meet us in person Tuesdays 8-9pm in Barnum LL35. View the Supplementary Funding Request form.

  • Budgets for clubs range from $25-$5,000. On average budgets are around $2,200 per group

Legal Oversight

    • All LCS subgroups are required to abide by the necessary legal oversight policies in order to function. Current examples of oversight include permission forms, CORI checks, etc, which especially pertain to subgroups that interact with children, animals, and others and subgroups traveling off campus for their work. If you have questions about your specific subgroup, please reach out to us.
    • Subgroups are advised to go over current oversights for risk based on activities members will participate in/carry out as part of their work and reflect on liabilities that may arise (interaction with animals, going off campus, etc.)
    • Please refer to our latest all subgroup meeting slides for more information (found in LCS Resource Box

LCS Subgroup Recognition

  • In order to get recognized, groups are first required to make a presentation to the Executive Board, describing the nature of their organization, how it functions, projects it has undertaken or aims to in the future, what its larger goals are, and why LCS recognition would benefit the group. To continue to receive recognition as an LCS subgroup, each subgroup is expected to present at the end of the school year. Each presentation must include a list of active members, how the members contributed, what was accomplished over the year, their future goals and aspirations for the following school year, how they plan to execute these future plans, and explain the transfer of leadership roles/transition process for the following year.

Green Dot Training

  • A new TCU mandate is in place for all recognized student organizations to attend green dot training for the recognition process. “Even if you’ve been Green Dot trained in the past, this mandate applies to you”

Ideally 1:10 ratio of trained members

  • Trainings are offered 4 times a week for both Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters.

    • Mondays 12-1pm
    • Tuesdays, 4-5pm
    • Wednesdays 12-1pm
    • Thursdays 8:30-9:30 am

Sign up for a green dot training.
